I am a non-Prophet!

So yesterday I had to heroically jump in to save Russell Glasser who was stranded without Non-Prophets Podcast co-hosts. For an hour, I chopped it up with him and a handful of others:

Incidentally, if you want to read my takedown of the Black Atheists of Atlanta, you can read it here. Please be sure to read the follow-up as well.

I will have more thoughts on the Wisconsin temple shooting later today.

Ugh, I found that argument that the Founders wanted the equivalent of assault rifles to be in the hands of the populace to be very bizarre and tenuous. Since when is a muzzleloading musket (which takes fucking forever to load) equivalent to an assault rifle (which can fire shots like crazy with minimal effort)? That’s insane logic.

Pretty interesting overall, though – I enjoy watching you on these videos.

Well I don’t think that the argument was that they are IDENTICAL, it was that muskets were military issue at the time, and the founders explicitly (apparently) wanted the populace (of white male land-owners) to have access to them. The parallel argument today would indeed be assault rifles.

Either way, the second amendment is, in my eyes, a) ridiculous; and b) grossly misinterpreted. Get some well-regulated militias going, then we can talk about the right to bear arms.

In the States, these are called the National Guard.

It pretty well sums up most atheist groups: non-prophet irreligious disorganizations.
