When it rains, it pours

And no, this is not a post about the weather in Vancouver (which is decidedly rainy this week – welcome to autumn).

So I like to do most of my blogging all at once, rather than trying to work up the motivation to write every day. Despite the stereotype about bloggers, I actually have a very robust social life (and yes, for the record that does involve spending time with real-life people). As a result, it’s usually much easier for me to stake out a few hours on a Saturday or Sunday to write, rather than trying to bang out 1000 words at minutes to midnight the night before it’s supposed to go up (although this has definitely happened many times). To facilitate such a practice, I keep news items and articles that I find interesting in a file so that I can talk about them at a later date.

Right now, that file is full to bursting, and I am concerned that some of them might get short shrift. Already I’ve made the decision not to comment on some things that probably deserve more attention than I am willing to give. While I am not a big fan of Tumblr-style micro-blogging, I am beginning to see its appeal in terms of information imparted vs. effort expended. That’s just a heads up for you – I am trying to digest this info for you to convert it into something worth reading my thoughts on.

To add to all that fuss, I have just received some unbelievably exciting news about something that happening this Saturday. I will not give spoilers, because you only have to wait 4 days to find out what it is. Suffice it to say, I am well pleased, and I hope you will be too.

Just a bit of administrative heads-up for you – things will be quite different over the next 4-5 days.
