The new layout

Hey readers,

I thought I would spice things up a bit by changing the layout. Let me know what you think in the comments – do you like the change or should I go back to the old style?

Very nice! I, at least will find this much easier to read. I’m not sure if this is intentional or not, Is the home button supposed to overlap the Blog’s title?

No, that is an accident of the software that has been (hopefully) fixed by the new header

I vote for the new style! It’s lovely, Ian!

Yes, here in Canada we tend to ball ’til we fall

I use an RSS feeder so it doesn’t much matter to me.

    If I were a new reader…
•I tend to like it when its easy and obvious to click a “RSS FEED” link- else I don’t usually bother to continue following it.
•I like your cloud but would miss the ability to see the Archives. It is one of the first things I browse through when I am on a new blog. I like to see if any titles stick out.
•I think the colors are rather boring. Not a fan of the shaded comment box either. It makes the page feel more like a wall of text and less exciting.
•Missing a graphic. I like it when people have a photo or an icon, something that I can associate with them. Although, thats minor as well. …and its not something I would see after subscribing with my feed reader either… unless I click their link because I want to read comments.

      – Added RSS feature to top of sidebar
      – Put archives back in
      – Changed the header, but the larger colour scheme will have to remain, or I have to find a whole new theme
      – Added a graphic on a trial basis – not sure how I feel about it but I’m going to give it a try.

Thanks for the feedback, very much appreciated

This was one of the few times I actually clicked through to see your actual blog, since I normally rely solely on my RSS feed. That being said, I recall your old layout, and frankly I preferred it. I’m not sure I could ever set it up in a concise “list of things” as to why I preferred the old to the new.. I think this one just feels more “sterile” with less personal touches. It looks like the kind of layout someone would have the second they set up a brand new blog and chose one of their default templates.

Just one person’s personal opinion, of course. Doesn’t change the content any, and it certainly doesn’t change the fact that I will probably never see it again unless prompted.. love you, google reader ❤

Hahaha, well hopefully some of the tweaks I’ve done will make it a bit less impersonal. My problem with the old layout was how narrow it was, and how non-obvious the comments section was. I’m going to give it a try and see how it feels.

I read you in a reader, but I think I like the old header better. No major objection to this one though.

One more vote for the old layout here.

There seems to be a mixed response to the new layout. I have added some tweaks, and hopefully that will make things a bit better. Thanks to those who have commented.
